Shore Conference Preview

Led by a # 6 All-time performance by Joe Kotran, the TRN boys won the Ocean County with a 30 point win over Southern. The TRN girls fought off an outstanding 1-2 finish by Southern’s Chelsey Cox and Corrie Gethard to win the title by 6 points. TRN boys took both the freshmen and JV races. The Southern Girls took both the JV and Freshmen races.
Molly McNamara and Mike Mazzacaro not only won the individual titles at the Monmouth County, but they also led their teams to huge victories. The RBC girls had a great day as the took all 3 levels (frosh JV and varsity). Holmdel’s boys took the JV race and CBA froshies took the victory.

The CBA Freshmen won big and the Freehold Township Sophomores sneaked by Matawan today at Holmdel High School. Matt Intile of Freehold Township stole the show with victories in the 200, 400 and a 3rd in the 4000IH. For his efforts he won the MVP for the Sophomore meet. For Freshmen, Nick Villani too the 1600 (4:40.05) and the 800 (2:11.3) to take the MVP. Results are posted in the results section.
The Ocean County Champions(Results) was a Southern Regional Party. Both boys and girls teams took home the titles with a well balanced attack. The highlight for Southern was Chelsea Cox’s 55.44 in the 400. TR South’s Rob Whitfield took 3 events, including a meet record 23′4.5″ in the Long Jump.
The Monmouth County Championships(Results) saw one of the greatest single day performances in meet history by Marlboro’s Adaobi Unachukwu as she won 4 events (100 – 12.09, 200 – 25.29, 400 – 55.74, TJ – 38′5″). She led her team to the title. On the boys side, led by a great group of long sprinters and middle distance runners, Freehold Township took their 2nd Monmouth County title of 2009. Neptune’s Michael Peavey took down a year-old meet record and a Sore Conference Record in the 100 with his 10.59 and Holmdel’s George Galasso took ‘The Clash of Titans’ as he won the 3200 over Colts Neck’s Mark Lenninger and Manalpan’s RobbY Andrews.
